The Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), also known as the peregrine, and historically as the duck hawk in North America, is a widespread bird of prey in the family Falconidae. It is a very fast flyer averaging 25-34mph in traveling flight and reaching 69mph in direct pursuit of prey. It may reach speeds of 200mph as it drops toward its prey.
